Easter 2007_1“He is risen!” - that was the cry of our pastor yesterday. What a weekend we had. With 3 services on Good Friday and 5 on Easter we saw over 10,000 people gather together to worship our risen Lord (singing my Easter song of the year: “Mighty to Save”). From a drama to dance, to a video testimony and great music, to an amazing message - God was honored and the Easter story was communicated in compelling, creative, fresh and powerful ways.

With my foot in a boot and being on crutches, I got to sit back and watch my tech team in action - it was a beautiful sight. I couldn’t be more proud of the servants I get to work with each week. With all volunteers and a rehearsal every night of last week, we pulled off some pretty impressive and moving moments. Below are some pictures. I’m taking the first part of the week off to recover, but will put together a little video highlight once I get back in the office.

Greg, from these pictures, it looks like you had an amazing Easter weekend. Are you posting any video footage? Now that I discovered your blog, I’ll definitely check back often to see what you guys are up to. What happened to your foot?

You’d asked about the sunrise service. Well, we sat on the sand next to the ocean, and it was cold and a little uncomfortable. However, the sermon was nothing short of incredible, and at the end, they released about 50 doves into the sky as a symbol of freedom. That was the highlight for me. We didn’t actually get to see the sun, as it was cloudy that morning.

The dove thing sounds very cool.

    Greg,

We did something kinda unique and cool. We produced an intro video with our video team. It turned out to be a great intro to the band who was opening to the song by United “tell the world that Jesus lives.” You can see it on a vodcast at The Adventure Church w/Eric Van Rhee. Get the vodcast Special Easter Sunday Worship 4-8-2007…It’s 28 minutes long . . It was a nice ‘kick start’ to a already charged service.

We finished the service by havig the band do Sweetly Broken. I purchased the video to the song and kinda built the ‘look’ from there. We run 3 camera’s with a live feed on 2 screen off stage. So what I did was added 4 extra projectors in the audience. All four of these projectors ran the ‘background sweetly broken video.’ Two projectors shooting behind the band in focus and 2 projectors criss-crossed shooting across the back of the audience (out of focus).

We don’t have any fancy lights, so the 2 out of focus projectors in the back essentially was a very cheap ‘intellegent lighting’ effect. Finally we had 3 dancers. One on stage. And one smack dab in the middle of each audience section. Right in the middle of the audince.

It was what a call a ‘visual smorgasborg’ of activity. When everybody kicked in, I got goose bumps. You know how it is, by the performance you’re so ready for vacation sometimes you just want to get it over. But I was awestruck and what God was doing through this moment.

I thought the best seat in the house was in my chair because you not only saw the band, the live images, the video background images & the dancers . .in your perifrial vision you had these other 2 projectors hitting the sides of your face and most of all . .every image was in sync . .I don’t know if that makes sense or not but it was really a very powerful moment in our church. To God be the glory.
