On The Lot
Posted by Church Video Ideas under Greg's Favorites, Intros and Announcements, Movies, Random ThoughtsIt was a little bit of a sad Monday night with no “Heroes” and no “24″, but Fox came through with a good show to give me something to look forward to throughout the summer. The TV show “On the Lot” is something I’ve been looking forward to ever since they started promoting it.
I’ll admit, I like “American Idol” and even though my boy, Blake, didn’t win, I still enjoy watching the show and the interaction of the at-home audience. I’ve often wished there was a show like “American Idol”, but for filmmakers - now there is and again, you get to have a hand in the outcome by voting from home.
This week’s assignment was to create a 1 minute comedy. I think there a few really talented directors and look forward to seeing what’s to come. What did you think?

I was dissapointed to not see Brett Ratner there, he is one of my favorite directors, but other than that I enjoyed the show. I’m interested to see how the ratings will be.
I really enjoyed seeing several people. Adam Stein, Marty Martin, Will Bigham, and Zach “Lee” Lipovsky. Although Zach is really well with effects, he will have to be careful with it. He might end up being criticized for using it too much.
Sorry Greg, but like Blake Lewis using the beat boxing too much in A.I.
Later.

I thought it was great last night. Some of the contestants aren’t as good as I would like and the commentary from the judges was really lacking, but overall it’s a great concept for a show. I can’t wait until the numbers shrink enough to allow some longer format pieces.

Totally agree about the show. It is very cool, long overdue and very well done. Not sure about the bimbo they picked to host the show . . .
I thought the one “Lucky Penny” was just great. It was classic. I love it when you see a film that can stand alone without any speaking. That is the good old fashion cartoon logic. Make the plot so easy to follow that you need no other supporting sounds. Very cool.
I also thought the guy who put together the trailer is extremely talented. I mean wow! He did not follow the assignment at all, but his work was great.
I agree on the judges. They kinda wimped out a bit. And Zach better watch out on going overboard with effects, I agree on that too.
