Coming To Dallas This Week?
Posted by Church Video Ideas under Audio, Blogs, Churches, Communication, Conferences, Continuing Education, Events and Seminars, Family, Ideas, Intros and Announcements, Outreach, Random Thoughts, Tech Blogroll, TravelI know several people that are coming to Dallas this week for the C3 Conference at Fellowship Church. I’m planning to meet with a few of them and give them a tour of Bent Tree. If you’re coming to town this week and want to get together, just shoot me an email and let me know: greg@churchvideoideas.com.
EXTRA:
We have a team of leaders from our church in Pune, India training Church leaders for our adopted people group, the Marathas. This past Sunday we spoke with one of our elders live during our Sunday morning worship service. It was about 9pm his time and it was morning for us. It was very cool. We could all hear him clear as a bell and he heard us with no problem. We did it using Skype!

According to TechCrunch yesterday, a source close to Microsoft says the company will launch a new desktop software called WorldWide Telescope on February 27. Pretty cool. You can read more about it HERE.
BONUS:
I read this in WIRED magazine: You can place a picture of you and/or your family on the moon - that’s right: on the moon. Check out HERE for more info.

Ya, at Denton Bible they will teleconference missionaries in China every once in a while via Skype. But they will include video. Usually they just put a laptop on the podium, hook it up to a camera that is standing near the podium (hand held or stationary) then run a monitor out to the AV system for the big screens. It always works great.

Love Skype! We purchased a web cam for each of our missionaries to communicate with them and now have one of our missionaries in LaPaz do a monthly video update. I’m really hoping to get more of our missionaries on board. It’s great to see him in his own environment either interviewing others around him or just talking about what is going on his life. It keeps it real. It’s more than just a photo and prayer blurb in a newsletter somewhere.
The camera (Logitech Quickcam UltraVision) records video as a WMV file. I have him upload it to our server and save it as the same file name so it will automatically show without any effort on my part. It works out great. Check it out: http://www.parksidechurch.com/site/c.iqLRIUOCKtF/b.1537821/

We’ve been wanting to try and do the Skype thing with some missionaries, too. Could you tell me how you set it up (not the Skype itself, but the interface into the audio/projection systems), or else direct me to some instructions?
Thanks,
Chris
