It’s Crazy

Posted by Church Video Ideas under Churches, Holidays

We’re in the craziness of Easter week. I know you are, too. Let’s all pray for each other.

Last night we rehearsed for our Good Friday services. Tonight we rehearse for Easter. I’m pretty excited about what I see coming together. I’ll have pictures for you in the near future.

For now, I’d love to hear what you’re doing at your church this Easter.

For Good Friday, we’re doing a noon communion service at each of our two campuses. Then that evening we’re doing two performances of Saviour. We’ve completely changed our stage around to accommodate the soloists which means we have to come in Saturday and reset the stage for our Easter sunday services. And for that we have 8 services. 4 in the morning and one in the evening at our fist campus and 3 in the morning at the second campus.

Actually for me this week is only crazy becuase I got the brainaic idea to install our Allen and Heath ilive system in our current building. I never realized how crazy the wiring was and actually how much I’m looking forward to moving into our new building were we will be able to work with excellence from the beginning. Other then 3 services Sunday morning that is all for this week. However since we are supposed to be in our new building April 6 there is still a lot going on and between Easter prep and new building prep sleep has been minimal. I’m sure you remember this from your move. :) Thanks for the blog as I constantly learning and pondering from you. One thing still to be done that I’m throughly not looking forward to, is the frequency coordination of the 13 wireless mics and 4 wireless iem’s that are going to be used this week. Where did the idea of adding 5 wireless mics and 2 wireless iem’s the week of Easter come from, cause it definately wasn’t a tech :)

Our pastor has had the idea for a while now to utilize a “creative” team for big Sunday’s such as Easter. We’re in a brand new location with a spankin’ new gymatorium, or sanctanasium, or whatever, so our A/V/L capabilities are better than they were, but less than ideal. Nevertheless we’re pushing ahead with a video intro from the Passion, choir number, dramatic monologues delivered by Peter, a Centurion & Mary M. while they make their way through the audience, full band praise time w/the choir and all of it broadcast to two overflow areas.

Rehearsal is Thursday with extra staging, new wireless headworn mics, rented follow spots & scaffolding, plus a new lift to be used to suspend a 10′ cross above the stage all scheduled to arrive in the next 24 hours!

We’re in a series called “Betrayal” and our Easter production is unofficially titled “The Shadows of Betrayal.” We’re doing a half-in-front, half-behind a hound’s tooth scrim thing. We’ve even worked in a Three Doors Down and a Hoobastank song.

It starts with Judas’ perspective, then goes to Peter. There are a couple of videos depicting people contemplating betraying someone (wife, boss, friend, etc.), but then, during Peter’s part, we find out that they did the right thing.

I’m especially proud of this production, because other than the songs, it’s 100% original. My wife scripted the live drama, and I scripted the video.

    I hope people dig it.

Hello, I have been reading your posts for awhile now and have found them inspiring info. As I work with a drama in our church, I have a close tie with the tech team there (Orlando Worship Center).
This Easter we are running our third presentation of “JESUS: Name Above All Names”, a cantata I wrote.

You can see some of the video work and last year’s filming on Youtube.com (Look for JESUS Name Above All Names, or Stormshelter, or Xylonfury).

My blog explains why we do what we do and the breakdown on a production aspect. http://stormshelter.wordpress.com/

I pray your Easter services are full of worship for our GOD WHO is Resurrected. JESUS is LORD of all and HIS Name is above all names.

We have been having an interesting month and a half, about six weeks ago our lead pastor resigned and we have been having, essentially, pulpit supply. Guest speakers and they have had mixed reviews so far. But last week we had a guy come in for Palm Sunday and Easter, and he got great reviews by our people. We havn’t seen as many visitors, that our people invited, the past several weeks and I think that is due to being unsure as to who is speaking and how good they are. But I think people will be more apt to invite knowing that this guy can do a great job. Our sermon is entitiled, “Death Proof”.

Our big production for Easter was our annual Pageant which concluded this Friday. For Easter Sunday Service (yeah only one), we have a drama demonstrating the power of giving without expectation of return (Grace). Then during the offeratory our Chorale will do the final number from Pageant, “He’s Alive!” This has always been one of my favorites and the guy singing (Stephen Reed) is a rock star turned lawyer that can really belt it out. It’s one those “hair stands on the back of your neck” moments. I’m hopeing to get some this year’s Pageant on Youtube or Godtube in the next couple of weeks.
