Video Projects This Month
Posted by Church Video Ideas under Church Media, Church video, Churches, HD, Media ministry, Random ThoughtsAt Bent Tree, we’ve got a busy Fall coming up. As part of what all we have going on, we’ve been working on 2 in-house video projects, as well as a few smaller pieces and outsourcing several things that we couldn’t fit in.
The 2 we’re working on now are a baptism highlight video for next Sunday, the 31st and a look back in time video for our Grand Opening on Sept. 7th. I’m sure I’ll post these on here later for you to check out.
I’m curious: What video projects are you up to at your church?

Our church has developed a series of video spoofs to encourage people to volunteer to serve in Sunday School.
They’ve taken regular Sunday School teachers sitting in front of the camera with one of our worship leaders standing behind them.
Then, like in the Geiko commercials a voice says something like “Tom Smith is not an actor, he teaches a 5th grade boys Sunday School class. So to help, we’ve hired prrofessional worship leader Lewis Lea to help tell his story.”
They’re brilliant, very well done and very effective.

We have a new Sermon series starting in September. Entitled “Silence is Killing Us” it is about our lack of Prayer and trust in God my my High School video team edited this together as the teaser and have the full length sermon video almost done. We also have another prayer video and a couple other in house sermon Videos. They did a great Job for our Student Ministry.

We’re in a series called “The Prayer,” and we did a video sermon intro featuring different people in different churches all reciting the Lord’s Prayer. Sept. starts our series “The Hunter,” and we did some funny teaser pieces, in addition to its sermon opener. We went out to SW Texas to a deer camp for the footage.
Crossroads Creative is ALWAYS working on new pieces, for Crossroads Church first, but then to put up n the site,

Our Senior Pastor is having a series on the names of Christ and we’re planning to have a light show that will sync with video and music to dramatize “Jesus, Light of the World”. The most logical direction is to start it with something ominous, even foreboding. We’ll have our sanctuary totally dark and just have the projection lights for the video. We’re thinking of showing some text or verses on darkness and then slowly or abruptly introduce the light. It’s really still in conceptualization stage. Any ideas or suggestions?

We are currently working on a couple of video Projects for the Fall. One is a Man-On-The-Street video where we are asking people what they would do if they had One Month To Live. This will be a series of 5 videos to play as message intros for our One Month to Live Series in September.
We also have outsourced our baptism highlight video with Testimonies to a volunteer on our Production Team.

We recently did a series on money. I know what your thinking, but it wasn’t that kind of series. This one was designed to help people understand how money (if we let it) can hold us hostage. In fact, thats what we titled the series, HO$TAGE. I guess I ought to introduce myself. My name is Vincent Mims and I work as the Media Arts Director for Stonebridge Church in The Woodlands, TX. I create all the video media the church needs. This is the video Bumper, or intro into the Hostage series:

We also do a newscast every week to let the church know what’s going on in the world of Stonebridge. I guess you could call it our announcements. Here is a link to that:

This weekend we start a new series called Designer Kids. I am currently making the Bumper for it right now. Think Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium opening credits meets Willy Wonka’s factory and you have an idea for the bumper. I’ll be back to post a link once it’s done. This is a great forum! Thanks Greg!

Hi Greg,
i just found your blog on the net while searching for working in high definition in worship services. we are considering taking this step now as well at our church in vienna/austria. we are using easyworship as well and it’s awesome to read about someone sharing, who already took this step.
just to say where we stand concerning hardware. we have two hd-cams and two hd beamers with 4000 ANSI we use. until now i used a laptop wich worked fine for sd output but i’m aware that we need a much faster pc as well as a good grafic card and maybe additional video equipment.
i would love to read a blog entry where you describe your experiences with this step of going hd in detail. i am sure many other readers would be interested in that as well. questions that would interest me are among the following:
-, which grafic card are you using? The easyworship site is recommending the nVidia GeForce 8600 video card or better. Is that what you are working with?
-, how do you manage to get the live-feed signal from the hd-videocams into the pc, lay text, graphics,… over it and get it on the screen without delay?
-, how would you decribe the switch in terms of costs, time and nerves?
It would be super if you could share
greetings from vienna, god bless, jack
